A young girl tells her story about how she deals with loss over the passage of time. New experiences help her learn to let go. Eventually that loss is transformed into a source of comfort. This story is based on a real event. The kite is hanging in the walnut tree in my yard and inspired me to write this story for all children who have lost someone they love.

Alice Mansfield is a psychologist, singer-songwriter, and blogger. Born in 1962, she grew up in Rhinebeck, New York. Alice moved to Austria in 1985, where she now lives with her husband. They have two adult children and two cats.
