Planet earth is estimated to have 30 million species of living organisms, all interlinked in a life sustaining system - the environment. Safeguarding the entire biosphere with all its intricacies is crucial to the survival of this vast biodiversity. The northeast region of India is rich in biodiversity and its conservation has significance in ensuring a sustainable earth. Environmental communication plays a key role in environmental management and protection because it can help shape people's understandings of environmental issues by educating, alerting, persuading and collaborating. Today environmental communication has emerged as an academic field while environmental journalism has become a profession. As such having knowledge about the biodiversity in local context is crucial for successful environmental communication. A simple methodical but complete in most respects, this present volume is expected to serve as a reference for courses in biodiversity and environmental communication besides being a reporters environmental handbook.

Sc. (Zoology), MMC, PGDJMC, B. Ed. and M. Phil. (Biodiversity) beside a Ph. D. in Mass Communication.
