This cumulative dissertation explores the fundamental electrochemical corrosion mechanisms of Mg-Al-Ca alloys in the passive state. Accordingly, it covers the effects of the native oxide, the passive layer chemical composition as well as the secondary phases on the anodic and the cathodic electrochemical partial reactions.
