Beschreibung
This book mainly focused on tobacco growing, economically sustainable alternative livelihoods and farmers income. A case study involving farmers in Maracha district, Uganda. Key Recommendations in the study. In order to identify the existing economically sustainable alternatives to tobacco growing, the study recommended that policy makers and farmers should first undertake a thorough and complete analysis of the entire value chain of the specific enterprise. Key considerations should always be on the cost-benefit analysis, market or demand, and environmental sustainability. Secondly, an attempt should be made to encourage tobacco farmers to adopt off-farm livelihood activities as compliment to other on farm livelihood sources.
