Thomas Schütte: Houses II collects architectural work by the artist and is being published on the occasion of his solo exhibition Westkunstmodelle 1:1 at the De Pont Museum in Tilburg. Featuring numerous images and construction plans, the book presents 18 projects completed between 2003 and 2023 for the first time, along with their construction stories. Schüttes approach is characterized by the use of a 1:1 scale to bring his designs to life. By doing so, Schütte turns architecture into an artistic medium, creates new catalysts for large-scale sculpture, and blurs the lines between sculpture, architecture, and concept art. Thomas Schütte zählt zu den prominentesten deutschen Gegenwartskünstler:innen. Er war unter anderem mehrfach auf der documenta und bei Skulptur Projekte Münster vertreten und wurde 2005 mit dem Goldenen Löwen (bester Einzelkünstler) der Biennale in Venedig ausgezeichnet. Maria Schnyder ist stellvertretende Direktorin und Kuratorin am De Pont Museum in Tilburg. Sie arbeitete mit dem Direktor und Chefkurator Martijn van Nieuwenhuyzen zusammen, um die Ausstellung Westkunstmodelle 1:1 (2023-2024) zu realisieren. Dieter Schwarz war von 1990 bis 2017 Direktor des Kunst Museum Winterthur. Er lebt als freier Autor und Kurator in Zürich.
