Among the other Western Balkan countries - Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia -, Kosovo is the only one not yet having negotiated a pre-accession Stabilisation and Association Agreement. However, such negotiations will start in near future. Envisaging its European perspective, i.e. the future option to potentially become a Member State of the EU between 2020 and 2030, Kosovo has started to implement EU legislation at large since years. Law No. 02/L-123 On Business Organisations of 27 September 2007 has been introduced, intending to bring the legal framework governing business entities in Kosovo into compliance with good market-oriented practices as well as the basic mandatory requirements of the EU. The authors of present book are primarily addressing practitioners - judges and lawyers - and scholars, while keeping in mind the aim to support any current market actor as well as future founders of commercial entities in Kosovo wishing to familiarise with the challenging legal requirements as well as the practice of establishing and running a business in Kosovo. The text reproduces the legal status as of 01.07.2013.
