Considering the degree of urban livelihoods deterioration in the Sub -Saharan African countries like Zimbabwe due to socio-economic and political factors, the study was undertaken to explore the roles of Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) on rebuilding sustainable urban livelihoods. This study was conducted in Mbare, one of the poverty stricken high density residential areas of Harare in Zimbabwe. Oxfam GB and ZimPro joint initiatives programmes and projects were the ones examined during the study.
