Beschreibung
Roof Planting The earliest planted roofs and roof gardens date back several thousand years. Whether designed to improve living space climate in both hot and cold places, for high property values or perhaps just for show, all constructions need to be technically sound in order to function and give pleasure to their occupants. This book explains roof planting technique to the lay reader in simple terms, without skimping on technical details, however. It shows that costly systems are not absolutely necessary, but rather that small roof areas such as garages and annexes can also be planted with relatively simple means. The authors explain each phase of roof planting step by step. Moreover, the planting of sloping roofs is also explained, together with new approaches for near-natural roof planting by using native plants and creating places for animals to linger. Colour diagrams complete the picture, showing examples of planting for different roof forms, including plant lists and subgrade structure.
