This volume of the Annual Review of Law and Ethics is the Festschrift for Joachim Hruschka on his 70th birthday. The volume includes contributions from an international and interdisciplinary group of authors on topics from Joachim Hruschka's own areas of research and the fields in which he has had the most influence. Accordingly, the articles focus on ethics, legal philosophy, legal history, the history of ideas, and criminal law theory.

With this journal, the editors intend to permit an international, interdisciplinary discussion of legal and ethical issues approached from an historical, theoretical or comparative point of view. Each of the individual volumes emphasizes one particular issue at the interface of law and philosophy, and also contains contributions from the fields of economics, sociology and political science.
