Beschreibung
This volume presents effective uses of multiple representations to improve the quality of teaching and learning of physics. The reported research on multiple representations provides timely and up-to-date findings on teaching and learning physics in mechanics, optics, sound, electromagnetic induction, electricity, heat, buoyancy of liquids and other topics in the secondary and university physics curricula. Among the use of representations in various combinations across different contents and contexts in teaching and learning of physics, there is a need for some unifying theoretical frameworks on how best external representations can be harnessed for improving higher-order learning, such as problem solving and multi-modal learning. This book brings together the published works of many of the world's experienced physics education researchers from different countries and regions across different areas of physics with a common theme of making pedagogical uses of multiple representations, to enhance an understanding of physics by learners and teachers and to give an overview of research in this field.
